Dr Jennings and Adele Lidderdale Invited to Renewable Energy Transitions Even
Dr Andrew Jennings, Associate Professor in Island Studies and PhD candidate Adele Lidderdale were recently invited to take part in an event organised by Dr Giulia Champion (University of Southampton) and Dr Rachel Jekanowski (Memorial University, Canada)
They were part of a group of scholars from different fields and institutions brought together to explore transitions to renewable energy systems through cultural heritage and imaginaries in island contexts. The aim was to develop a project which asks how local and Indigenous communities, governments, and corporate enterprise stakeholders envision “just” energy transition, and which hopes to explore the role cultural heritage might play in imagining and constructing renewable energy infrastructures.
Adele is currently conducting postgraduate research into the implementation of Scotland's inaugural National Islands Plan (2019) for her PhD, entitled "Scottish National Islands Plan: A roadmap for transformational change?"
